Sunderland, October half term 2019

We had such a good day here, wasn't sure what to expect as I hadn't read any reviews and just chanced it.
Middlesbrough to Sunderland on the train took around 50mins and less than 5 mins walk to the museum, We bought a Halloween trail for the extra fun and as always I filled it in and Lili got the prize! The prize was actually a pretty decent wooden wiggly snake. There was quite a lot of rooms to wander through, Trixie screamed with excitement at the lion then screamed in fear when we walked towards it which was funny, Lili screamed in fear when we walked past the piranha tank and she realised they were real and alive. I attempted to walk the top of the winter garden but only made it maybe a fifth of the way around and had to turn back and come down. We spent around 3 hours in the museum and gardens which was pretty good.

When we left the museum we went to Mowbray Park, which thankfully was literally beside the museum, we sat and watched the ducks whilst we ate some dinner then had a wander around, both kids loved the playarea and Trixie enjoyed pointing out everything. We found a Elmer elephant model between the museum and park and then found more in the shopping centre which the kids loved.

On our way to the train station we spotted these weird green tentacles sticking out of a building so we took a detour to find out what it was about and found this!

When we got to the train station we found that the train was delayed by a hour becuae of breakdowns further along the tracks so we went for a wander around the shopping centres, found more Elmer elephants and had a Christmas photo shoot which caused us to miss the next train but we finally got on the 5pm train which didnt actually turn up til 5.20 and was packed, a man let Lili sit on his bag so she didn't have to sit on the floor and she fell asleep.
