What an amazing 2 days we had!
The first day we filmed in the Longford/Meath Street alley where we have the most amazing green space. The kids who live or visit on the alley had helped grow some veggies and had to opportunity to show them off. Mr Bloom was lovely with the kids and surprisingly the kids were pretty well behaved. The team also filmed with kids in Liverpool and York aswell as kids in another town I've totally forgotten.
The second day of filming happened a few days later in a converted green space behind a disused pub in Liverpool. Of the 5 kids who filmed in Middlesbrough only 3 turned up. The BBC paid for all the travel arrangements, we had to get a train from Middlesbrough to Darlington. My friend and her little girl Lacey travelled with us, the train was cancelled and had to take the replacement bus instead which means Lili chucked most of the way there before falling asleep and having to be woken up to run from the bus stop to the train in Darlington in order to get to Liverpool, thankfully the taxi between the train station and the green space was also paid for by the BBC.
All the fruit and veg all the kids had grown was taken and prepared for our feast and most of it was delicious!
The kids were all given magazines to keep them entertained and to take home, they had games out and veggie toys and provided live music and entertainment in the form of dancing.
When we got back to the train station we realised we had a bit of time to kill and Lili and Laxey were complaining they were hungry so we popped to McDonald's for happy meals and went back to the train station. Kids were hyper after all the fun of the day so bounced all over and the Darlington-Middlesbrough train was cancelled so we had to take the replacement bus again so Lili threw up all the way. It was close to 9pm by the time we got in the house so Lili went up to bed after a bit of hot food.
Whilst unpacking our bag I found one of the veggie toys she had stole! Little tinker.
